Executive Leadership

Human Domain Solutions (HDS) brings the personal background and experience, as well as, government and corporate professional networks of HDS Owner, Kurt M. Marisa, Colonel, USAF (ret.). He is a recognized leader and academic expert in the areas of FAO activities, CI/HUMINT, and LRC.
He retired from active duty in 2012 with 27 years in the US Air Force with an in-depth background in FAO activities, Attaché operations, Security Assistance/Foreign Military Sales and training, HUMINT, and as a defense linguist.  His overseas Attaché/FAO and operational assignments included Germany, Netherlands, Denmark/Greenland, Saudi Arabia, Suriname, Panama, and Korea.  His retirement assignment was as Deputy Director of HUMINT in the Office of the Secretary of Defense for Intelligence.
Since 2009, he has served as the President of the Foreign Area Officer Association (FAOA), the professional non-profit organization of FAOs, Attachés, and other DoD international affairs specialists (2200+ members currently) and the publisher of the world-class magazine, The FAO Journal of International Affairs.  He also serves as a Federal Language Consultant with the National Language Service Corps (NLSC) of the Defense Language and National Security Education Office (DLNSEO).
Colonel Marisa has a Veterans’ Administration disability rating, qualifying HDS for SDVOSB status.

Byrnes has a proven track record of enhancing innovation efforts and breaking down barriers between the DoD, Intelligence Community and the private sector that is rooted in his passion for enhancing the United States defense posture by making meaningful contributions to overall mission success. His specialty is logistics, recruitment, assessing and improving intelligence collection & analysis capabilities, and enriching & securing innovative cloud-based platforms through a hybrid mix of development and counterintelligence.  He has extensive and proven experience planning & implementing large-scale events and training exercises, as well as designing, developing, and implementing open-source intelligence (OSINT) solutions for the collection, visualization and predictive analytics. Byrnes has designed, implemented, and advised on several intelligence-related projects. Byrnes provides counter-Intelligence training support to DIA’s Joint Counterintelligence Training Academy (JCITA), specialized training support to Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), training support to National Guard Bureau (NGB) Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and High Yield Explosive (CBRNE) Response Enterprise (CRE), training support to SOCOM, and senior systems integration support to the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO). He holds a MA in Strategic Intelligence from American Military University (2014), a BS in Political Science concentrated in International Relations with a minor in Print Journalism and International Business from the University of Houston (2009), and is a Certified Entrepreneur and Certified Intrapreneur (2007) by the University of Houston.
